"Corona Project No.2" - Transplantation of a Kowa Set-R 50mm f1.9 from a Kowa SER

Yes, the bad Corona period sometimes has its good side. You get to finally implement projects that have been planned for a long time. For me, this was the transplantation of the lenses from 3 defective viewfinder cameras from the 50s and 60s. What is interesting about these lenses is their special imaging properties.

As a second lens I transplanted a Kowa Set R 50mm f1.9 from a Kowa SER. To do this, I had to remove the lens iris control from the camera and then open it with the lens wrench to remove the shutter built into the lens.

Then I "married" the lens with a 12-17mm M42 helicoid using 2-component adhesive to make extended focusing possible at all in the extreme close-up range. So I can now go from infinity to the extreme close-up range (just before the front lens). I attached an M42 Sony E-mount connection plate to the M42 Helicoid to be able to use it with my Sony cameras, but a Fuji connection plate, for example, would also be possible here.
